My daughter
My daughter
no longer a little girl.
So big
and smart
and sassy!
"Mom!" has replaced the cherished "Mommy!"
She's 8 and heading to third grade and
So big
Until I go to wake her up
and gently pull the hair back from her face
unearthing the sweet face that belongs to
my little girl.
They grow up so fast! Such a beautiful poem.
ReplyDeleteI just read something online about when children go from calling you mommy to mom. That line in your poem stood out to me. I have really been paying attention to it with my own kids and happy to say, my 11 year old still calls me mommy.
ReplyDeleteIt is funny that no matter how old they get you can still see the little one they once were- this poem is a lovely reminder!
