Paperdoll Revelations

As she removes the white wig from Elizabeth Schuyler Hamilton's head on her new paperdoll (obtained on our "Greatest City In The World" Spring Break) I say, "Aren't you surprised to find she actually has such dark hair?!"

"No", my eight year old replies. "I knew because of her eyebrows. Eyebrows show the real color of someone's hair. Look at mine, you can see I have orange hair, which you can also tell from my personality."

"What do you mean by that?" I ask, trying to not chuckle or assume anything about her understanding of stereotypes.

"Redheads are kind of fiesty and so am I. We have big emotions."

  1. Sounds like a smart cookie! Mom, too, to keep from laughing and listen without making assumptions.

  2. I'm reminded of an old television show called "Kids Say the Darndest Things." So wise for eight years old...
