It is a chance for book lovers to share their reading accomplishments as well as what is on the proverbial nightstand. She even does a giveaway. Subsequently Jen and Kellee at Teach Mentor Texts added an opportunity for those reading kidlit to join the fun. Since I read both I will post to both.
Check them out, join the conversations, and discover more great books.
I will catch up and then it will be a week at a time. First, here is what I have read, thus far, in February.
Pink by Lili Wilkinson*
A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness*
Major Pettigrew’s Last Stand by Helen Simonson
Ballad: A Gathering of Faerie by Maggie Stiefvater
A Week at the Airport by Alain De Botton
Girls Will Be Girls by JoAnn Deak*
An * indicates my ‘must own’ list, either for myself or my classroom library.
I've heard a lot about "A Monster Calls" - now I need to find it in my local library. Do you think that the Deak book would work for middle school?
ReplyDeleteI read A Monster Calls several weeks ago and sobbed...yes, full out cried! It was a fantastic read.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing...happy reading this week!
Ditto on A Monster Calls. I agree that it should be in school libraries, but think students might benefit from a booktalk for it, too. I'd like to know what you thought of Ballad: A Gathering of Faerie? Thanks for the list!
ReplyDeleteOh, A Monster Calls! I love that book. It is so great, so well-written and so moving.
