Ugh! What's My Password? (2/31)

2 of 31 - SOLSC 2019

A few sips into my cup of tea, laptop open on the kitchen table, and I'm ready to setup the URLs for the new Slicers Kathleen sent to me for my Welcome Wagon folks. I can feel the smile on my face as I think about these folks who are entering this community, this experience for the very first time. I love getting to be a part of ensuring they have comment love each and every day. (In some ways year two can be harder because your comment love isn't guaranteed, but that's another train of thoughts.)

Fingers poised above the keys, I pause.

I stare at the wall, trying to think.

I am obviously out of my routine as I can't remember the tool I use to keep track of the blogs I want to read. I can't even think of the last time I was in the habit of reading those blogs!

I am not sure what I feel. Do I feel sad? Or do I feel I am not on top of my game by letting something slide by? If I haven't missed them, is that part of my life that used to be routine part of another season of life?

As the emotions swirl I struggle to bring my focus back to the challenge at hand - figuring out where I keep blog URLs. I know the system works for me. I know I have a section for each year of folks in my Welcome Wagon group. I know I could navigate to each URL in another manner, but I am really not a fan of reinventing the wheel and this has worked for me year after year.

"blog lists" <enter> goes into my Google search bar.
Weebly is the first hit. It sounds familiar, but I don't that is it.
<click>
<click>
"RSS" shows up somewhere on my screen and tickles some neurons.
"rss feed app" <enter>
A 'Top 10 Best RSS Reader' link is first.
<click>
Feedly! That's it!
<click>

Ugh! What's my password.

  1. Thank you for taking on this important job as a member of the Welcome Wagon, Kristi. I greatly appreciate all of the TLC you and your group provide to first-time Slicers.

    Oh, passwords. They get us every time!

  2. Ha- yesterday I was setting up my bookmarks to make sure I had my new slicers blogs easily at hand, but I cleared all previous years before adding the newbies in (smiling at the names of the people I felt I really got to know through their first slices).

  3. Kristi,
    Memory of passwords has no expiration or age requirement. Annoying. But I refuse to "let" the computer remember my passwords. Great slice.

    This was my favorite: "

  4. I experience some version of "ugh what's my password" all the time! Ugh.
    And yay for welcome wagon volunteers. I remember being so grateful for readers and comments when I first began slicing.

  5. You could be just the right person to help me Kristi...
    1. I'm not with Blogger and I'm having the longest time on some blogs proving I'm human with those photos... it takes forever... I probably have a blogger account. I have a google account but I don't know it...
    and something this also wrong when I check in on my account to post a slice. Can I get my registration info?
    I can't believe this is happening to me... UGH!

    1. Hi Bonnie,
      I'm sorry you're having challenges leaving comments for people. I hope you didn't have any trouble with my blog. I have the settings pretty open. I know there have been times with Blogger and WordPress have not played well together and I have chosen whose posts to comment on simply by the URL so I knew I wouldn't have frustrating challenges.

  6. Yes, I have lost count of how many times I have used the "forget password" feature on sites that I don't use very often. Thank you for welcoming new slicers. Getting feedback was monumental my first year! That's what kept me coming back day after day.
